Wendy
Gallagher trained as a classical ballet dancer for
over 20 years. She has used the Pilates method since 1998 as a way
to rehabilitate from injuries to the lower back and hip resulting
from the rigors of ballet training and performing. Wendy also has
experienced an overuse injury to the shoulder as a result of teaching
swimming for over 20 years. The Pilates method of body conditioning
has been integral to the process of becoming stronger, and pain
free. Wendy has received training from Pilates “Elders”
Ron Fletcher and Lolita San Miguel. Wendy received her certificate
from Rael Isacowitz, known internationally as a master in the Pilates
method and a teacher of the highest caliber. Wendy has continued
her education with a workshop in scoliosis with Jillian Hessel,
and also dance specialization/conditioning with Karen Clippinger, a clinical
kinesiologist at CSULB.
“I enjoy working with many different clients each with their own goals. My goal is always that you become stronger, more flexible, feel better, and can participate in any activity you like at any age. My focus for my clients is always working towards muscle balance which results in improved posture and better functioning of all your muscles.” “With the dancers, we work together to improve overall technique and placement, improve and strengthen turnout, and establish more efficient muscular effort.”
